What this program is designed to do
Build work experience, show what you can do on the job, and strengthen the skills that can help you succeed and stay employed.
Taking part does not require you to stay with a particular employer. A permanent job is not guaranteed.
Pre-qualification questions
To meet the initial criteria, you must qualify for WIOA Adult or Dislocated Worker services, have at least one barrier to employment, and meet either a chronic-unemployment definition or the inconsistent-work-history definition. Apprentices and youth who previously took part in WBL are not eligible. No TABE test is required.
Target groups include long-term unemployed people, ex-offenders, people currently receiving or who have exhausted TANF, people with disabilities, and unemployed or underemployed people who meet the chronic unemployment or inconsistent work-history criteria below.
This pre-screen is not an official WIOA eligibility determination. A local Alabama Career Center must verify WIOA Adult and/or Dislocated Worker eligibility and all program requirements. No TABE is required.
